BCM Sleep Center Physicians

BCM Sleep Center is part of the section of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. The section has seven faculty members who are all Board certified in Sleep Medicine. As Baylor College of Medicine faculty members, our physicians serve multiple roles as researchers, educators and clinicians, combined. They offer firsthand knowledge of the latest advancements in sleep medicine and the ability to translate those advancements into better treatment for their patients.

Medical Director

Philip M. Alapat, MD, DABSM, FCCP, is the medical director of BCM Sleep Center and Harris County Hospital District Sleep Center. He has been with Baylor College of Medicine for 11 years and serves as the director of the Ben Taub General Hospital sleep disorders clinic and associate director of the sleep disorders fellowship program. Dr. Alapat is board certified in internal medicine and the sub-specialties of pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine, and sleep medicine. Dr. Alapat earned his medical degree from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock. His extensive training includes a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at BCM. During his fellowship, Dr. Alapat was named chief fellow. His clinical interests include obesity hypoventilation syndrome, sleep disorders and using the latest research to improve critical care.
