Gynecology

Dale Brown Jr., MD, professor, is interim chair for the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and vice chairman for Clinical Affairs. Dr. Brown is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston. He completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Charity Hospital of Louisiana, New Orleans. His clinical interests are vulvar diseases and gynecology.


Gary L. Binder, MD, assistant professor, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Bologna, Italy. Dr. Binder completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, NY, and his fellowship training in Gynecology Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine.


Jennifer E. Dietrich, MD, assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics in the division of pediatric and adolescent gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. She is also the director of the Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Fellowship at the College. Dr. Dietrich earned her medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wis. Her extensive training includes an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine; a Master of Science in Epidemiology and Clinical Investigation from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky.; and a fellowship in pediatric and adolescent gynecology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Her clinical interests include pediatric and adolescent gynecology.


Carl F. Giesler, MD, associate professor, serves as Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery program in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Giesler earned his medical degree at Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago, IL. He completed his internship at Ben Taub General Hospital, Houston, TX, a residency in Internal Medicine at Chicago Wesley Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL and a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Prentice Women's Hospital also in Chicago. He is certified in advanced operative laparoscopy by the Accreditation Council for Gynecologic Endoscopy and is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.


Harold J. Miller, MD, associate professor, earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans. He completed his internship and his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. Dr. Miller is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. His clinical interests are gynecology and gynecologic surgery.


Alfred N. Poindexter III, MD, professor, is director of the Division of Contraceptive Research and Development. Dr. Poindexter is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, with subspecialty certification in Reproductive Endocrinology. He received his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. He completed his internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at George Hubbard Hospital in Nashville, and his residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. He completed fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Poindexter's clinical interests are gynecology and contraception.


Amy E. Young, MD, assistant professor and chief of the division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology, earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson. She completed her internship at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA, and her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Young is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, with clinical interests that include general obstetrics and gynecology.


Ronald L. Young, MD, earned his medical degree from the University of Basel in Switzerland. His internship and his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology were completed at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Young is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a leading researcher in hormone replacement therapy (HRT).


Robert K. Zurawin, MD, associate professor, is Chief of Gynecology at Texas Children's Hospital and Director of the Fellowship in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. Dr. Zurawin completed his medical degree, internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. He is board certified, with clinical interests that include minimally invasive surgery and alternative procedures to hysterectomy urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and problems of menopause. Dr. Zurawin is renowned for laparoscopic surgery and international robotic surgery.

Obstetrics and Gynecology

Nishath A. Ali, MD, is an assistant professor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Ali specializes in general obstetrics and gynecology. She earned her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, NC. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Ali's clinical interests include adolescent gynecology, management of menstrual problems, fibroids, contraception, pelvic pain, urinary incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse. She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Medical Association, and the Harris County Medical Society.


R. Todd Ivey, MD, assistant professor, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, LA. Dr. Ivey completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Texas Medical School in Houston. His clinical interests include management of cervical dysplasia, menopause, fibroids, pregnancy complications and multiple pregnancies.


Susan M. Leong-Kee, MD, is an assistant professor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Leong-Kee earned her medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital in Galveston. She completed her internship and her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. She joined the BCM faculty in 2007. Dr. Leong-Kee's clinical interests include comprehensive prenatal and preventative gynecologic care, menstrual disorders, uterine fibroid treatment, as well as the education and counseling of women and their families. Her academic interests include medical student education in her role as the Clerkship Director for BCM OB/GYN and simulation training.


Susan P. Raine, MD, JD, is an assistant professor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Raine received her undergraduate training at Austin College in Sherman, TX, where she majored in international studies. After graduating summa cum laude, she pursued a law degree at The University of Texas at Austin School of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in November of 1995. She attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine, completing residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2005. She joined the BCM faculty in 2005. Dr. Raine specializes in minimally invasive surgery, including robotic surgery, pregnancy care, fibroids, contraception and menstrual disorders. Her areas of interest include resident education as well as health law and policy.


Sean M. Rosenbaum, MD, is an assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Rosenbaum earned his medical degree at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. His extensive postgraduate training at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, TX, includes internships in family practice, and obstetrics and gynecology; and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology. His clinical interests include general obstetrics and gynecology, office-based procedures, contraception, cervical dysplasia and pregnancy care.


Ann I. Schutt-Aine, MD, is assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Schutt-Aine earned her medical degree at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. Her training includes internship and residency in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Schutt-Aine is a board certified diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She specializes in general obstetrics and gynecology with an interest in menstrual disorders, contraception and family planning.


Audra E. Timmins, MD, is an assistant professor and board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist in the division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. She also serves as the interim division director for General Obstetrics and as assistant program director for the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program. Dr. Timmins earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, where she remained for her internship and residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She also completed an MBA at Rice University. Her clinical interests include pregnancy care, gynecology, laparoscopy, and promoting patient safety and quality.


Anuja Vyas, MD, is an assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. She is assistant medical director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor Clinic. Dr. Vyas was raised in Los Angeles, CA. and received a bachelor of science in neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles. She earned her medical degree at New York University School of Medicine in New York City. Her training includes an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She served as administrative chief resident during her tenure at the hospital. Dr. Vyas' clinical specialty is general obstetrics and gynecology and treating women with vulvovaginal disorders including chronic infections, lichen disorders and vulvodynia. She is committed to caring for women throughout the stages of their lives.

Gynecologic Oncology

Matthew L. Anderson, MD, PhD, assistant professor, earned his medical degree from Yale University, where he also completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He completed fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Anderson's research interests include protein involvement in cellular senescence and aging, and gene therapy to treat ovarian cancer. Dr. Anderson's clinical interests include the diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, uterine sarcomas and cervical cancer.


Concepcion R. Diaz-Arrastia, MD, is an associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the division of Gynecological Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). Dr. Arrastia is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and gynecologic oncology. Her clinical specialty is gynecologic oncology. Dr. Arrastia is interested in fertility preservation for young women with gynecologic tumors and translational research in cervical neoplasia (precancerous changes in cervical cells). Before joining BCM, Dr. Arrastia completed tenures at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and the State University of New York (SUNY) Health Science Center at Brooklyn. Dr. Arrastia earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey's Rutgers Medical School in Piscataway. Her training includes an obstetrics and gynecology residency, and gynecologic oncology fellowship at SUNY Health Science Center.


Creighton L. Edwards, MD, professor, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. His internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology were completed at Baylor University Medical Center, followed by fellowship training in Gynecology Oncology at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Edwards' clinical interests include the care of women with complicated gynecologic conditions and gynecologic malignancies.

Maternal Fetal Medicine

Kjersti M. Aagaard-Tillery, MD, PhD, assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine, specializes in Maternal Fetal Medicine. She currently serves as director of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Obstetrical Transport service for St Luke's Episcopal Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine. After earning her PhD from Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Rochester, MN, Dr. Aagaard-Tillery completed her medical degree, internship and integrated residency in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health at University of Minnesota Twin Cities in Minneapolis. She then completed a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City, UT as well as a masters degree in Clinical Investigation. She is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.


Manisha Gandhi, MD, is an assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). Dr. Gandhi is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and board eligible in maternal-fetal medicine. Her clinical interests include high-risk pregnancies, especially complicated multiple pregnancies. She performs ultrasound, amniocentesis and chronic villus sampling (a prenatal test for birth defects). Dr. Gandhi earned a Bachelor of Arts from Rice University and a medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Her training includes an obstetrics and gynecology residency, and maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.


Anthony Johnson, DO, is associate professor in the division of Maternal Fetal Medicine in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in the department of Molecular and Human Genetics as well as in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Johnson is board certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics in Clinical Genetics and by the American Osteopathic Association in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as in Maternal Fetal Medicine. He earned his osteopathic medical degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Lewisburg, WV and completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI. Dr. Johnson also completed fellowships in Maternal Fetal Medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, PA and in Clinical Genetics at Thomas Jefferson University also in Philadelphia. His clinical interests include fetal malformation, prenatal diagnosis, antenatal ultrasound and fetal intervention and therapy.


Kenneth J. Moise Jr., MD, is a professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. He is also director of BCM 's Fetal Intervention Fellowship and is a professor of Surgery at the College. Dr. Moise earned his medical degree at Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans. His extensive training includes a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Vanderbilt School of Medicine in Nashville, TN. and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at BCM. His clinical interest is fetal intervention.


Stacy L. Strehlow, MD, is an assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Strehlow earned her medical degree from Baylor College Medicine. Her training includes a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at LAC + UAC Medical Center's Women's and Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Strehlow's clinical specialty is evaluating and managing high-risk pregnancy conditions.

Reproductive Genetics/Prenatal Diagnosis

Ignatia B. Van den Veyver, MD, assistant professor, earned her medical degree and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Universiteit Institute of Antwerpen, Antwerp, Belgium. She is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Medical Genetics/Clinical Genetics, and specializes in Reproductive Genetics/Prenatal Diagnosis. Dr. Van den Veyver completed fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine/Molecular Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine. Her clinical interests are general and high-risk pregnancy care and prenatal diagnosis.

Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (REI/IVF)

William E. Gibbons, MD, is a professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Baylor College of Medicine. He is certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and reproductive medicine and infertility. Dr. Gibbons earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). His training includes a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Baylor Affiliated Hospitals in Houston and a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at BCM. After postdoctoral work, Dr. Gibbons joined the faculty of the University of Southern California where, with two other physicians, he launched the second successful in vitro fertilization (IVF) program in the United States. Dr. Gibbons returned to Baylor College of Medicine to direct the College's reproductive medicine fellowship and IVF program. He later became director of BCM's division of Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Gibbons transitioned to the position of chair of the obstetrics and gynecology department at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, an institution that produced the first IVF child in America. Dr. Gibbons, on the Best Doctors in America list for a decade, returned to BCM to devote more time to patient care, research and the evolution of assisted reproduction. He specializes in reproductive endocrinology and infertility.


Ertug Kovanci, MD, assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, earned his medical degree from the Istanbul Medical School in Turkey. He completed his internship in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine, and residencies in obstetrics and gynecology at BCM and at Istanbul Medical School. Dr. Kovanci also completed a fellowship with the division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at BCM. He specializes in infertility, fertility preservation, premature ovarian failure and hormone replacement therapy. In addition to his position at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Kovanci serves as Staff Physician, Gynecologic Surgery, at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston. He is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and the Society for Gynecologic Investigation.


Our Team

Kelli Leake, RN, MSN, FNP-C, is an instructor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. Ms. Leake holds a master in science in nursing from Texas Woman's University in Houston, TX, and is licensed as an advanced practice nurse with limited prescriptive authority by the Texas State Board of Nursing Examiners (TSBNE). As a certified family nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Ms. Leake directs patient care including prenatal care, well woman's exam, management of general gynecological medical conditions and contraceptive management.
