Gynecology

Gary L. Binder, MD, assistant professor, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Bologna, Italy. Dr. Binder completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, NY, and his fellowship training in Gynecology Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine.


Xiaoming Guan, MD, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is the assistant fellowship director of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and the Director of Gynecology at Ben Taub Hospital. Dr. Guan earned his medical degree at Fujian Medical College, Fuzhou in Fujian, China. He completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at St. Joseph's Hospital, a Mount Sinai School of Medicine affiliated hospital, in Paterson, NJ, followed by a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Dr. Guan's clinical interests include alternative procedures to hysterectomy, treatment of fibroids and endometriosis using minimally invasive techniques including robotic surgery and single-incision laparoscopic surgery. He also treats urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.


Alfred N. Poindexter, III, MD, professor, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, with subspecialty certification in Reproductive Endocrinology. He received his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. He completed his internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at George Hubbard Hospital in Nashville, and his residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. He completed fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Poindexter's clinical interests are gynecology and contraception.


Ronald L. Young, MD, earned his medical degree from the University of Basel in Switzerland. His internship and his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology were completed at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Young is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a leading researcher in hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Dr. Young is also fluent in German and Swiss.


Robert K. Zurawin, MD, associate professor, is Director of the Fellowship for Minimally Invasive Surgery. Dr. Zurawin completed his medical degree, internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. He is board certified, with clinical interests that include minimally invasive surgery and alternative procedures to hysterectomy urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and problems of menopause. Dr. Zurawin is renowned for laparoscopic surgery and international robotic surgery.

Gynecologic and Obstetric Specialists

Nishath A. Ali, MD, an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She earned her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, NC. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Ali's clinical interests include adolescent gynecology, management of menstrual problems, fibroids, contraception, pelvic pain, urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Medical Association and the Harris County Medical Society.


Kelly R. Hodges, MD, assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Hodges earned a masters of Science in Biotechnology from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL followed by her medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. Dr. Hodges' clinical interests include alternative procedures to hysterectomy, minimally invasive surgery, pregnancy care, contraception and menstrual disorders.


R. Todd Ivey, MD, assistant professor, is interim medical director for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and interim chief of the division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Ivey is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, LA. Dr. Ivey completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Texas Medical School in Houston. His clinical interests include management of cervical dysplasia, menopause, fibroids, pregnancy complications and multiple pregnancies.


Susan M. Leong-Kee, MD, an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Leong-Kee earned her medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital in Galveston. She completed her internship and her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. She joined the BCM faculty in 2007. Dr. Leong-Kee's clinical interests include comprehensive prenatal and preventative gynecologic care, menstrual disorders, uterine fibroid treatment, as well as the education and counseling of women and their families. Her academic interests include medical student education in her role as the Clerkship Director for BCM OB/GYN and simulation training.


Susan P. Raine, MD, JD, an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Raine received her undergraduate training at Austin College in Sherman, TX, where she majored in international studies. After graduating summa cum laude, she pursued a law degree at The University of Texas at Austin School of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in November of 1995. She attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine, completing residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2005. She joined the BCM faculty in 2005. Dr. Raine specializes in minimally invasive surgery, including robotic surgery, pregnancy care, fibroids, contraception and menstrual disorders. Her areas of interest include resident education as well as health law and policy.


Gregorio Riera, MD, an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Riera was raised in Venezuela where he earned his medical degree at Universidad de Carabobo in Valencia with honors. He worked for a year in a rural area of his native country before moving to Houston. Dr. Riera completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston where he served as an administrative chief resident. He joined the faculty in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at BCM in 2007 and has been providing care to medically underserved patients at Casa de Amigos Health Center where he directed the gynecologic service. He specializes in general obstetrics and gynecology, management of menstrual disorders including polycystic ovarian syndrome, fibroids, cervical dysplasia, laparoscopic gynecologic surgery, office-based procedures and pregnancy care. Dr. Riera is also fluent in Spanish.


Laurie S. Swaim, MD, associate professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, serves as the director for the Division of Gynecology and Obstetrics at BCM and the Chief of Gynecology at Texas Children's Pavilion for Women. Dr. Swaim graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts with a bachelor of science degree. She earned her medical degree with distinction from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City followed by her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Texas Houston-Hermann Hospital. Dr. Swaim is a section officer of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and a member of a National ACOG Committee. Her clinical interests include patient education, intrapartum obstetrics, and gynecologic surgery.


Audra E. Timmins, MD, is an assistant professor and board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist in the division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. She also serves as the interim division director for General Obstetrics and as assistant program director for the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program. Dr. Timmins earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, where she remained for her internship and residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She also completed an MBA at Rice University. Her clinical interests include pregnancy care, gynecology, laparoscopy and promoting patient safety and quality.


Anuja Vyas, MD, an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is assistant medical director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor Clinic. Dr. Vyas was raised in Los Angeles, CA. and received a bachelor of science in neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles. She earned her medical degree at New York University School of Medicine in New York City. Her training includes an internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She served as administrative chief resident during her tenure at the hospital. Dr. Vyas' clinical specialty is general obstetrics and gynecology and treating women with vulvovaginal disorders including chronic infections, lichen disorders and vulvodynia. She is committed to caring for women throughout the stages of their lives.

Gynecologic Oncology

Matthew L. Anderson, MD, PhD, assistant professor, earned his medical degree from Yale University, where he also completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He completed fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Anderson's research interests include protein involvement in cellular senescence and aging, and gene therapy to treat ovarian cancer. His clinical interests include the diagnosis and treatment of uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine sarcomas, cervical cancer prevention, and genetic susceptibility to female reproductive tract cancers and diseases.


Concepcion R. Diaz-Arrastia, MD, is an associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the division of Gynecological Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). Dr. Arrastia is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology. Her clinical specialty is gynecologic oncology. Dr. Arrastia is interested in fertility preservation for young women with gynecologic tumors and translational research in cervical neoplasia (precancerous changes in cervical cells). Before joining BCM, Dr. Arrastia completed tenures at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and the State University of New York (SUNY) Health Science Center at Brooklyn. Dr. Arrastia earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey's Rutgers Medical School in Piscataway. Her training includes an obstetrics and gynecology residency, and gynecologic oncology fellowship at SUNY Health Science Center.


Creighton L. Edwards, MD, professor, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. His internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology were completed at Baylor University Medical Center, followed by fellowship training in Gynecology Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Edwards' clinical interests include the care of women with complicated gynecologic conditions and gynecologic malignancies.


Celestine S. Tung, MD, is an assistant professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Tung attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, where she received her medical degree and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology. She then received subspecialty training in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. She also obtained her MPH degree from the University of Texas School of Public Health. Dr. Tung's clinical goal is to provide the best care possible to women diagnosed with gynecologic malignancies while educating and mentoring students and residents about the complex surgeries and treatment of this specialized group of patients. Dr. Tung also provides a variety of surgical options for patients, including minimally-invasive gynecologic surgery.


Marian Yvette Williams-Brown, MD, MMS, assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Williams-Brown earned her medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. At The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX, she completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology, and earned a master of Medical Science. Dr. Williams-Brown has special expertise in gynecologic malignancies, specifically, ovarian, uterine, cervical, and vulvar cancers. She also performs minimally invasive procedures, including robotic surgery.

Maternal-Fetal Medicine

Michael A. Belfort, MBBCH, MD, PhD, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He serves as chair for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine as well as obstetrician-gynecologist-in-chief at Texas Children's Hospital, where he is also a member of the fetal intervention team. Dr. Belfort earned his medical degree (MBBCH) at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, a post graduate doctor of medicine degree (MD) at the University of Cape Town in Cape Town, South Africa, and his PhD at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. He completed two residencies in obstetrics and gynecology, the first at the University of Cape Town and the second at Baylor College of Medicine. He also completed his fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Baylor. Dr. Belfort has received numerous awards and has had grant support for his research in cerebral blood flow in pregnancy and the management of hypertension in pregnancy. His clinical interests include hypertensive complications in pregnancy, critical care medicine in pregnancy, the management of the morbidly adherent placenta (placenta percreta), treatment of post partum hemorrhage, and fetal intervention especially in cases of twin-twin transfusion syndrome and congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Dr. Belfort is also fluent in Afrikaans.


Gary A. Dildy, III, MD, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He serves as professor, vice chairman of Clinical Affairs and director of Quality & Patient Safety in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Dildy earned his medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency and Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. Before coming to Baylor, he was the director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, MountainStar Division, Hospital Corporation of America, in Salt Lake City, UT. Dr. Dildy has been elected by his peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America from 2001 to 2012. His clinical interests include critical care obstetrics, medical complications of pregnancy, obstetric emergencies, intrapartum fetal monitoring, multiple gestations, and prenatal diagnosis.


Manisha Gandhi, MD, an assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Gandhi serves as the Medical Director of the Program for Multiples at Texas Children's Fetal Center. Her clinical interests include high-risk pregnancies, especially complicated multiple pregnancies. She performs ultrasound, amniocentesis and chronic villus sampling (a prenatal test for birth defects). Dr. Gandhi earned a Bachelor of Arts from Rice University and a medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Her training includes an obstetrics and gynecology residency, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.


Nicole Hall, MD, assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and board eligible in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Hall earned her medical degree at University of Miami Medical School in Miami, FL. She completed her residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA, followed by a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Dr. Hall's clinical interests include preterm birth, short cervix, preeclampsia, renal disease, and maternal medical complications of pregnancy.


Lisa M. Hollier, MD, is professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Dr. Hollier specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases during pregnancy including hepatitis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis and herpes. She has a special interest in caring for pregnant women with HIV infection. She earned her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA, followed by her residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Dr. Hollier completed her fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.


Wesley Lee, MD, associate professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Lee serves as the section chief of Women's and Fetal Imaging and the director of Fetal Imaging Research at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. Dr. Lee earned his medical degree at Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine in Portland, OR. He completed his residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital- University of Texas Southwestern followed by a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Lee's clinical interests include prenatal diagnosis of congenital anomalies, 3D/4D ultrasound, fetal MRI, and prenatal diagnosis.


Stephanie Martin, DO, associate professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine and serves as the division director for Maternal-Fetal Medicine at BCM. In addition, Dr. Martin holds leadership positions at Texas Children's Pavilion for Women including Director of Labor and Delivery, Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinical Services and Director of Critical Care Obstetrics. Dr. Martin earned her medical degree at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, TX, and completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of California Irvine Medical Center, Orange, CA. This was followed by a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine also at UCI in Orange, CA. Dr. Martin's clinical interests include critical care obstetrics, medical complications of pregnancy, cardiac disease in pregnancy, multiple gestations, and prenatal diagnosis.


Joan M. Mastrobattista, MD, professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Mastrobattista specializes in the use of ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, multiple gestation, preterm delivery, and the management of hypertension during pregnancy. She earned her medical degree at New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ. Dr. Mastrobattista completed her residency at New York Hospital/Cornell University and her fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston.


Manju Monga, MD, professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, specializes in the management of medical complications in pregnancy, preterm labor, as well as education and professional issues. Dr. Monga earned her medical degree and completed her residency at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. She completed her fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Dr. Monga is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine.


Susan M. Ramin, MD, professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, specializes in fetal acidosis, intrapartum pain relief, cerebral palsy, medical complications of pregnancy, and prenatal diagnosis. She earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis-St.Paul. Dr. Ramin completed her residency followed by fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Ramin is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine.


Mildred M. Ramirez, MD, professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Ramirez has over 20 years of experience in the management of high risk pregnancies, specializing in clinical obstetrics, cancer in pregnancy, cervical insufficiency, and first trimester screening. She earned her medical degree and completed her residency at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. Dr. Ramirez completed her fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center. She is also fluent in Spanish.


Stacy L. Strehlow, MD, is an assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Strehlow earned her medical degree from Baylor College Medicine. Her training includes a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at LAC + UAC Medical Center's Women's and Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Strehlow's clinical specialty is evaluating and managing high-risk pregnancy conditions.


Kiran Babu Tam Tam, MD, assistant professor, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and board eligible in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He completed his residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA, after earning his medical degree from the University of West Indies in Jamaica. Dr. Tam Tam served as an obstetrician and gynecologist for five years at a federally qualified health center in Denver, CO, before completing both a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and a master of science degree program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. His clinical interests include management of complicated pregnancies (particularly those with hypertensive disorders and diabetes), prenatal diagnosis, targeted ultrasound and high-risk prenatal and preconceptional counseling. He sees patients at our Northwest clinic. Dr. Tam Tam also speaks Telugu, Hindi and Spanish.


Alex C. Vidaeff, MD, MPH, professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, has extensive experience in the management of multiple pregnancies, preterm labor, and preeclampsia. He specializes in the management of medical complications in pregnancy especially renal conditions complicating pregnancy. Dr. Vidaeff is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He earned his medical degree from University of Bucharest School of Medicine, Romania, followed by his residency at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. He completed his fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Dr. Vidaeff also holds a Masters in Public Health (MPH) from The University of Texas School of Public Health at Houston. He also speaks Romanian.

Obstetric Hospitalists

Patrice D. Firpo, MD, FACOG, assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Firpo was raised in Philadelphia, PA. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, cum laude, she earned her medical degree at Temple University School of Medicine. She then moved to Houston, TX, to complete her internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. She maintained a large private practice in Houston for more than 11 years. Dr. Firpo is a labor and delivery hospitalist at Texas Children's Pavilion for Women, and is dedicated to inpatient care. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Firpo is proficient in medical Spanish.


Eugenia V. Jacobs, MD, assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, believes in helping patients better understand how their bodies function so they can make the right health care choices. Dr. Jacobs earned her medical degree at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA, followed by an internship in obstetrics and gynecology at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, SC. Dr. Jacobs completed her education with an OB/GYN residency at Emory University.

Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (REI/IVF)

William E. Gibbons, MD, is a professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Baylor College of Medicine. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine and Infertility. Dr. Gibbons earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). His training includes a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Baylor Affiliated Hospitals in Houston and a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at BCM. After postdoctoral work, Dr. Gibbons joined the faculty of the University of Southern California where, with two other physicians, he launched the second successful in vitro fertilization (IVF) program in the United States. Dr. Gibbons returned to Baylor College of Medicine to direct the College's reproductive medicine fellowship and IVF program. He later became director of BCM's division of Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Gibbons transitioned to the position of chair of the obstetrics and gynecology department at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, an institution that produced the first IVF child in America. Dr. Gibbons, on the Best Doctors in America list for a decade, returned to BCM to devote more time to patient care, research and the evolution of assisted reproduction. He specializes in reproductive endocrinology and infertility.


Ertug Kovanci, MD, is an assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Kovanci earned his medical degree from the Istanbul Medical School in Turkey. He completed his internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine, and residencies in Obstetrics and Gynecology at BCM and at Istanbul Medical School. Dr. Kovanci also completed a fellowship with the division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at BCM. He specializes in infertility, fertility preservation, premature ovarian failure and hormone replacement therapy. In addition to his position at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Kovanci serves as Staff Physician, Gynecologic Surgery, at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston. He is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and the Society for Gynecologic Investigation.

Reproductive Genetics/Prenatal Diagnosis

Ignatia B. Van den Veyver, MD, professor, earned her medical degree and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Universiteit Institute of Antwerpen, Antwerp, Belgium. She is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Medical Genetics/Clinical Genetics, and specializes in reproductive genetics/prenatal diagnosis. Dr. Van den Veyver completed fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Molecular Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine. Her clinical interests are general and high-risk pregnancy care and prenatal diagnosis.

Reproductive Psychiatry

Lucy J. Puryear, MD, associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Menninger Department of Psychiatry, is board certified in psychiatry. Dr. Puryear holds the Maureen Hackett Endowed Chair for Reproductive Psychiatry. She serves as the Medical Director of "The Women's Place: Center for Reproductive Psychiatry" in the Pavilion for Women at Texas Children's Hospital. Dr. Puryear earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. She completed her internship in psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine, followed by a residency in psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine. She also completed training in psychoanalysis at the Houston-Galveston Psychoanalytic Institute. Her clinical interests include the treatment of psychiatric conditions during pregnancy and postpartum, perimenopause, infertility and reproductive loss. Dr. Puryear has been recognized by Texas Monthly as a "Super Doc" and by H Texas Magazine as one of the "Best Doctors in Houston" and "Best Doctors for Women" as well as being named to "Best Doctors in America." She is a member of North American Society of Psychosocial Obstetrics and Gynecology (NASPOG), American Psychiatric Association, and American Psychoanalytic Association. She served as an expert witness in the Andrea Yates trial and retrial.


Christina Treece, MD, assistant professor of Psychiatry in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, is board certified in psychiatry and psychosomatic medicine. Her clinical interests include caring for women with anxiety, depression, postpartum depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and medical illnesses including gynecologic cancers and breast cancer. She is also trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy, which focuses on the psychological roots of a woman's emotional suffering. Dr. Treece practices at "The Women's Place: Center for Reproductive Psychiatry" in the Texas Children's Pavilion for Women. She earned her medical degree at Columbia University Medical Center in New York, NY. After completing her residency in psychiatry at the Payne Whitney Clinic at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Treece continued her training at Memorial Sloan Kettering /New York Presbyterian Hospital by completing a fellowship in psychosomatic medicine.

Urogynecology

Terri-Ann Samuels, MD, board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, specializes in urogynecology including female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery with particular interest in robotic, laparoscopic and vaginal procedures to help minimize recovery time for patients. She earned her medical degree at the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom followed by a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. Her advanced training includes a fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery/urogynecology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY, with a focus on laparoscopy, robotic-assisted laparoscopy and vaginal approaches.

Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology

Jennifer L. Bercaw-Pratt, MD, assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Bercaw-Pratt earned her medical degree at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport, LA. She completed her residency and fellowship in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Dr. Bercaw-Pratt's clinical interests include pediatric reproductive endocrinology, disorders of sexual development, and minimally invasive surgery in children. Dr. Bercaw-Pratt sees private patients at Texas Children's Hospital (Main Campus and Sugar Land Health Center).


Jennifer E. Dietrich, MD, assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and pediatrics in the division of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. She is Chief of Gynecology at Texas Children's Hospital and is also the director of the Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Fellowship at the College. Dr. Dietrich earned her medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wis. Her extensive training includes an internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine; a Master of Science in Epidemiology and Clinical Investigation from the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY, and a fellowship in pediatric and adolescent gynecology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Her clinical interests include pediatric and adolescent gynecology. Dr. Dietrich sees private patients at Texas Children's Hospital.


Xiomara M. Santos, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Santos earned her medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology followed by a fellowship in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Dr. Santos' clinical interests include minimally invasive surgery, congenital anomalies, adnexal masses in children and adolescents, and menstrual disorders in adolescents. Dr. Santos sees private patients at Texas Children's Hospital (Main Campus, West Campus, and Sugar Land Health Center). Dr. Santos is also fluent in Spanish.

Nurse Practitioner

Kelli Leake, RN, MSN, FNP-C, is an instructor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. Ms. Leake holds a master in science in nursing from Texas Woman's University in Houston, TX, and is licensed as an advanced practice nurse with limited prescriptive authority by the Texas State Board of Nursing Examiners (TSBNE). As a certified family nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Ms. Leake directs patient care including prenatal care, well woman's exam, management of general gynecological medical conditions and contraceptive management.
