The Liver Center at Baylor College of Medicine

The Liver Center at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is one of the best in the nation, from outstanding liver transplant survival rates to the incomparable credentials of our nationally recognized physicians.

We offer the largest liver transplant program in Houston's world-renowned Texas Medical Center. Since 1998, our team has performed more than 1,000 liver transplants, making it one of the premier centers in the nation. We also offer the highest liver transplant survival rate in Houston*, the shortest possible hospital stay, and extremely low complication and retransplantation rates.

Our liver transplant surgeons are recognized for many "firsts" in transplant medicine, including:

  • First split liver transplant in Houston
  • First adult living donor liver transplant in Houston
  • First dual organ lung-liver transplant in Houston
  • First dual organ heart-liver transplant in Houston

In addition to liver transplants, we offer superior medical and surgical care for any type of liver disease. Our patients benefit from a uniquely qualified team of transplant surgeons and hepatologists, state-of-the-art treatment based on the latest research and technologies, and access to leading-edge clinical trials, including National Institutes of Health-funded studies on the latest treatments for liver disease.
