Hematology/Oncology Physicians
Martha P. Mims, MD, associate professor of Medicine, professor in the Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center at BCM, and chief of the Section of Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Medicine. Since 2008, Dr. Mims has served as the administrative director of the Hematology/Oncology Unit at the Harris County Hospital District's Ben Taub General Hospital, where she conducts extensive patient care activities including development and direction of a genitourinary oncology multi-disciplinary clinic and co-chairs the cancer committee. She also serves as vice chair of the BCM Admissions Committee and as associate director of the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Training program.
Clarence P. Alfrey Jr., MD, is professor of Medicine in the section of Hematology/Medical Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Alfrey specializes in hematology. His clinical interests include general hematology and iron metabolism. He is board certified in internal medicine and hematology. Dr. Alfrey earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed an internship in internal medicine at University Hospital School in Iowa City, Iowa, followed by a residency in internal medicine at the Mayo Foundation in Rochester, MN.
Mark M. Udden, MD, is professor of Medicine and chief of Benign Hematology for the section of Hematology-Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine. He also serves as chief of Hematology Service at Ben Taub General Hospital. Dr. Udden specializes in benign hematology, including anemias, sickle cell disease, thalassemia, myeloproliferative disorders (including CML), thrombosis, and platelet disorders, and hematologic malignancies such as CLL, non-Hodgkin's and Hodgkin's lymphomas, and plasma cell dyscrasia. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in hematology. After completing his undergraduate degree in biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Dr. Udden earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology at Baylor College of Medicine.
Ahmed A. Eid, MD, is an assistant professor of Internal Medicine in the section of Hematology and Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). He earned his medical degree from Alexandria University in Egypt and is board certified in medical oncology from the University of Paris XIII in France. Dr. Eid's extensive medical training includes a medical internship at Alexandria University Hospitals in Egypt, fellowship in medical oncology at Institut Gustave-Russy, Hopital Paul-Brousse and Hoptial Saint-Louis in Paris, an internal medicine residency at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY; and a hematology and oncology fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Dr. Eid specializes in gastrointestinal malignancies such as esophageal, gastric, hepato-bilary, pancreatic, colo-rectal and anal cancers.
Garrett R. Lynch, MD, is professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Lynch specializes in medical oncology and medical education. He is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. Dr. Lynch earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Boston City Hospital followed by fellowship training in medical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
C.Kent Osborne, MD, is professor of Medicine and Molecular and Cellular Biology, director of the Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center and the Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine and acting chief of the section of Hematology-Oncology at BCM. Clinically, Dr. Osborne is primarily interested in new treatment strategies, including the development and testing of new hormonal treatments for breast cancer and the development of gene therapy for treatment and prevention. He earned his medical degree at the University of Missouri Medical School in Columbia. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD, and his fellowship in medical oncology at the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, MD. Dr. Osborne is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, with a subspecialty of medical oncology.

This is my first visit to Baylor Clinic and I am very satisfied. I did not have to wait long to see the doctor. During my appointment she took her time, asking me questions. The employee at the front desk was very courteous and friendly.
