DeBakey Heart Center®

Heart patients come from around the world to receive life-saving care from the DeBakey Heart Center. We offer groundbreaking treatment backed by the renowned faculty and research of Baylor College of Medicine, and nationally recognized facilities throughout the Texas Medical Center.

We are known for superior outcomes and timely treatment, thanks to a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach that leverages the best minds in cardiovascular medicine. Patient care at the DeBakey Heart Center is delivered through the departments of Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy. Our goal: the highest-quality care, unparalleled service, and individualized treatment based on each patient's unique biology - putting our heart, thoracic and vascular .. years ahead of our field.

At the DeBakey Heart Center, our contributions to the field of cardiovascular medicine began with the work of the pioneering cardiovascular surgeon and researcher Dr. Michael E. DeBakey, credited with inventing and perfecting scores of medical devices, techniques and procedures which have led to healthy hearts and productive lives for millions throughout the world. That tradition continues today through programs such as the Winters Center for Heart Failure Research at Baylor College of Medicine where our re-searchers are zeroing in on a simple, reliable tool for predicting advanced heart failure, enabling physicians to identify those patients who would benefit from early referral to advanced heart failure clinics. Through these and other vital research efforts, we proudly remain on the leading edge of all aspects of cardiovascular care.

We are also educating the next generation of cardiovascular professionals offering top-notch internships, residencies and post-graduate programs. Trainees come to our programs for hands-on instruction in one of the most innovative and diverse teaching environments in the world. Our program provide offerings that range from courses, seminars, workshops, video lectures and symposiums in the field of heart transplantation to awareness programs for cardiovascular disease prevention through diet, exercise, smoking cessation, sodium limitation and other health promotions.
