Clinical Trials
As a research-intensive medical school, Baylor College of Medicine is dedicated to the discovery of new ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat cure orthopedic injuries and disorders.
Our patients have the opportunity to take part in that discovery process by participating in clinical research trials, receiving expert orthopedic care from investigators that rank among the leading specialists in their field.
What is a Clinical Trial?
A clinical trial is a research study that uses volunteers to answer specific health questions. Carefully conducted clinical trials are the safest and fastest way for scientists to find effective treatments and new ways to improve human health. A clinical trial may be conducted to see if a new drug or medical device is effective, to compare the effectiveness of different treatments, or to study different ways to use existing treatments to make them more effective.
